Pride & Pies

The May 22, 2016 Pie for the People-Santa Cruz event in support of the Diversity Center of Santa Cruz County was FABULOUS! We raised over $1,000 and ate lots of amazing pies, tarts, and galettes.

May 22, 2016 – Pie for the Diversity Center! What could be better?

When: Sunday, May 22, 2016, 1-3 pm

Where: Depot Park—Freight Building, 119 Center St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060

What: A community pie potluck
extravaganza to raise money for The Diversity Center Santa Cruz CountyThe Diversity Center Santa Cruz County is building an equitable community where LGBTQ people thrive. Donations from the event will help them to continue to provide free to low cost events and services for youth, elders, and the trans and Latino communities. Programs like our 60Plus Senior program, Trans Support Groups, Youth Program, and our Conexiones Latino community program benefit directly from contributions. 

Please bring:

  • The whole family!
  • A sweet or savory pie* (quiches, tarts, crisps & crumbles are great!) AND a $5+ donation per person
  • Your own plate/fork/spoon/napkin/mug
  • A cash donation for The Diversity Center Santa Cruz County

* Please make all pies vegetarian. Bring your pie in a disposable/recyclable tin if you can.

FEBRUARY 27 – Pie in Support of Beach Flats Community Garden!

When: Saturday, February 27, 2016,  2—4 pm

Where: Nueva Vista Community Resources (formerly Beach Flats Community Center), 133 Leibrandt Ave, Santa Cruz, CA 95060

What: A community pie potluck
extravaganza to raise money for Beach Flats Community Garden… an organic urban garden that nourishes the neighborhood with healthy food and cultivates and preserves culture.

What will the donations be used for? Money raised at the Pie for the People event will be used to directly support the 2016 growing season including new tools, irrigation hoses, seeds/plants, and construction materials as necessary to help gardeners maximize the space in the newly reduced garden. (The Seaside Company has reclaimed use of 40% of the land.)

Please bring:

  • The whole family!
  • A sweet or savory pie* (quiches, tarts, crisps & crumbles are great!) OR a $5+ donation per person
  • Your own plate/fork/spoon/napkin/mug
  • A cash donation for Beach Flats Community Garden

PARKING NOTE: There is plenty of parking around the community center, but be sure to bring quarters for the meters! (Or better yet, ride your bike or walk.)

October 2015 Pie for the People-Santa Cruz Great Success!

On October 3, 2015 the Pie for the People-Santa Cruz raised $1,000 for the Davenport Resource  Center. What a committed group of staff who are doing important work for the community. Thanks to everyone who came out and made this such a successful day.

THIRD PIE FOR THE PEOPLE-SANTA CRUZ EVENT IS OCTOBER 3, 2015! 

When: Saturday, October 3, 2015, 2—4 pm

Where: Depot Park—Freight Building, 119 Center St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060

What: A community pie potluck
extravaganza to raise money for Davenport Resource Services Center“ the Center serves as an advocate and resource for the area’s culturally diverse and low-income population” including support services for education, health, community, and food distribution/assistance.

Please bring:

  • The whole family!
  • A sweet or savory pie* (quiches, tarts, crisps & crumbles are great!) OR a $5+ donation per person
  • Your own plate/fork/spoon/napkin/mug
  • A cash donation for Davenport Resource Services Center
